What are aluminium roller shutters?
Roll-formed foam-filled aluminium is light and insulating, which is why it dominates domestic shutters and garage doors. Extruded aluminium laths are stiffer, tougher double-wall profiles, used where a shutter needs more resistance or a cleaner commercial look.
Because aluminium does not rust, it is the sensible material for coastal towns and exposed sites, and its powder-coated or foiled finishes hold their colour well.
Lighter curtains also mean smaller motors and smaller headboxes, which helps on homes where the box is on show.
Which options can you choose?
- Roll-formedFoam-filled double-skin laths for homes and garage doors.
- ExtrudedStiffer double-wall aluminium laths for strength and a premium finish.
- FinishStandard colours, woodgrain foils or any RAL colour.

Questions about aluminium roller shutters
Are aluminium shutters strong enough for a shop?
Extruded aluminium shutters are very robust and suit many shops; very wide or high-risk openings may still be better in steel.
Do aluminium shutters fade?
Quality powder-coated and foiled finishes hold their colour well; darker colours in full sun can fade slowly over many years.
What colours can I have?
White, anthracite, black, cream, silver, brown and woodgrains as standard, plus RAL colours to order.
