What is roller shutter servicing?

Powered doors in workplaces should be maintained so they stay safe in use, and insurers often ask for service records on shutters that protect stock. Fire shutters need regular servicing and drop tests.

Each visit ends with a written report for each shutter: condition, anything fixed on the day, and anything that needs quoting, with photos.

For multi-site customers we set up a schedule so every door is visited at the right interval without you chasing it.

What does the work cover?

  • IntervalEvery six months for busy doors, yearly for lighter use.
  • ScopeMechanical, electrical and safety-device checks with a written report.

What should you check first?

  • Workplace duties: Employers and people in control of premises must keep powered doors safe and maintained; a service record helps show this.

How does the process work?

  1. Send photos and details

Tell us what the shutter is doing, roughly how big it is and what make it is, with photos of the shutter, box and any labels.

  2. Visit and diagnosis

An engineer checks the shutter, controls and safety devices, finds the cause and explains the options.

  3. Cost agreed first

The visit cost is agreed when you book, and any parts or extra work are priced and approved by you before we do them.

  4. Fixed, tested, reported

We complete the work, test the shutter and leave a short written record of what was found and done.

Questions about roller shutter servicing

How often should roller shutters be serviced?

Busy commercial and industrial doors are usually serviced every six months, lighter-use shutters once a year. Fire shutters need at least an annual service and drop test.

What does a shutter service include?

We check the curtain, guides, barrel, springs, motor, brakes, limits, locks and safety devices, carry out minor adjustments, and give you a written report.

Do domestic shutters need servicing?

Not as often, but cleaning the guides and checking the motor limits every year or two keeps them running smoothly.
