What are high-speed roller doors?
High-speed doors are used between areas inside a building and on external openings with heavy forklift and pedestrian traffic. They are triggered by radar, induction loops, pull cords or buttons, and close automatically behind the traffic.
Many designs have a self-repairing curtain that pops out of the guides on impact and re-feeds itself on the next cycle, which saves downtime when a forklift clips it.
Because they cycle so often, high-speed doors need good safety devices, typically light curtains, and regular servicing.

What should you check before ordering?
- Safety: Light curtains and activation zones are commissioned on site so the door cannot close on people or vehicles in the opening.
- Maintenance: High cycle counts mean more frequent servicing than ordinary roller doors.

Questions about high-speed roller doors
Why use a high-speed door instead of a roller shutter?
Where a door opens many times an hour, a fast door is only open while traffic passes, which saves energy and keeps areas separate.
What happens if a forklift hits it?
Many fabric doors have a self-repairing curtain that comes out of the guides on impact and re-feeds on the next cycle.
Can high-speed doors be used outside?
Yes, with wind-rated construction for the exposure of the opening.
