Roller shutters for Epsom
Epsom is part of our Surrey coverage, and addresses in the KT18 postcode district are covered in the same way as the rest of Surrey.
We also cover Ewell, Banstead and Sutton, so premises in more than one of these places can be quoted together.
Epsom is roughly 15 miles north-east of Guildford.
You do not have to do every window at once: in Epsom we can fit the ground-floor windows first and match the colour and box on others later.
If your shop in Epsom is on a parade or in a conservation area, the look of the shutter matters as much as the security, so we talk through planning-friendly options such as perforated laths or a box behind the fascia.
Planning and safety in Epsom
Planning in Epsom follows the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and the permitted development rules in England. Shopfront shutters usually need planning permission; for houses it depends on the property, and listed buildings need listed building consent from the council, with Historic England involved for higher-grade buildings.
Electrical work for powered shutters is carried out to BS 7671, with notifiable work in homes (under Part P) self-certified by an electrician registered with a competent person scheme or notified to building control.
Fire shutters in workplaces and other non-domestic premises, including the common parts of blocks of flats, are maintained under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, where the responsible person is responsible for keeping fire safety measures in working order. Fire shutters that form part of building work also need approval from building control (council or a registered building control approver).
