Rules that apply in Derry / Londonderry
As in the rest of Northern Ireland, planning questions in Derry / Londonderry go to your local council, which has been the planning authority since 2015.
- Planning: New external shutters can need planning permission, particularly on street-facing elevations.
- Fire strategy: If a shutter is on an escape route, it must fit the building's fire strategy and must not lock people in.
- Workplace safety: Powered doors in workplaces must be safe in use and properly maintained. We commission the safety devices and recommend a service interval.
