Fitting door roller shutters in Penzance
Penzance sits some 24 miles to the south-west of Truro.
For back doors, French doors and bifolds in Penzance, the shutter is sized to the full frame so the curtain closes onto a level threshold or a bottom rail.
Wide patio and bifold openings in Penzance may need a shutter split into two on a shared centre guide, depending on the span and the wind on that side of the house.
We survey and install across Cornwall, and Penzance is one of the towns covered. Camborne, Redruth and Falmouth are covered too, which helps when several properties need doing.

Planning and safety in Penzance
As an English town, Penzance follows the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and the permitted development rules in England.
- Getting out safely: A shutter over an exit door must open from inside quickly and without a key. We set the switch inside the door and add a manual override.
- Planning: Front-door shutters change how the house looks from the street, so check with your council first, especially in a conservation area or on a listed building.
- Electrics: Wired to BS 7671. Notifiable work in homes in England and Wales, such as a new circuit, is self-certified by a competent person scheme electrician or notified to building control.

Door roller shutters in Penzance: questions
Can it be opened from outside?
With a key switch, keypad or remote, yes. Without one, it can only be opened from inside, which suits back doors.
Will it fit round my door handle?
The shutter runs in front of the door frame, so handles, letterboxes and door canopies are measured at survey and the guides are set out to clear them.
Do I need permission for door roller shutters in Penzance?
It depends on the property. External shutters on listed buildings need listed building consent, and conservation areas often have tighter rules. Check with your local council before ordering; we can supply drawings.
Do you cover Penzance?
Yes. Penzance and the TR18 postcode district are part of our coverage across Cornwall.
