Rules that apply in Consett
Consett is in England, so planning decisions sit with your local planning authority (the district, borough, city or unitary council).
- Getting out safely: A shutter over an exit door must open from inside quickly and without a key. We set the switch inside the door and add a manual override.
- Electrics: Wired to BS 7671. Notifiable work in homes in England and Wales, such as a new circuit, is self-certified by a competent person scheme electrician or notified to building control.
- Planning: Front-door shutters change how the house looks from the street, so check with your council first, especially in a conservation area or on a listed building.
