Planning and safety in Preston
As an English city, Preston follows the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and the permitted development rules in England.
- Workplace safety: Powered doors in workplaces must be safe to use and kept maintained; that includes working safety edges or photocells and regular servicing.
- Power supply: Industrial motors may need a 3-phase supply or a dedicated circuit; we confirm what is on site at survey.
- Lifting and access: Large doors are installed with suitable access equipment and a site-specific method statement.

Questions about industrial roller shutter doors in Preston
How often should an industrial door be serviced?
Most busy doors are serviced every six months, quieter doors annually, so the safety devices and motor are checked regularly.
Can you replace a door in a working warehouse?
Yes. We plan the work to keep the bay out of action for as short a time as possible, often a single day for a like-for-like door.
Do I need permission for industrial roller shutter doors in Preston?
Possibly. New doors on industrial buildings can need planning permission if they change the elevation, and doors in fire compartment walls must suit the fire strategy. We recommend checking with your local council first.
How much do industrial roller shutter doors cost in Preston?
We use the same UK guide prices in Preston; after the survey you get a fixed written price for your opening.
