What to check in Nuneaton before ordering
In Nuneaton, as elsewhere in England, planning questions go to your local planning authority (the district, borough, city or unitary council).
- Powered shutters: Powered shutters are set up so their safety devices work, and should be maintained. Workplace rules expect powered doors to be safe in use.
- Fire exits: A shutter must not obstruct a fire exit while the premises are occupied. We discuss operating procedures and any interlocks with you.
- Planning: A new shutter on a shopfront usually needs planning permission, because it changes how the building looks; councils often prefer perforated shutters or internal grilles, and some areas have shopfront design guides. Listed buildings also need listed building consent.

Yes, surveys for new installations in Nuneaton are free. Repair and service visits are charged.
Do I need permission for shop roller shutters in Nuneaton?
Possibly. New external shutters on shopfronts and street-facing elevations usually need planning permission. We recommend checking with your local council first.
