Rules that apply in Inverurie
Planning in Inverurie follows the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 and the Scottish permitted development rules. Shopfront shutters usually need planning permission; for houses it depends on the property, and listed buildings need listed building consent from the council, with Historic Environment Scotland consulted where required.
Electrical work for powered shutters is carried out to BS 7671 and the Scottish building standards for electrical safety.
Fire shutters in workplaces and other non-domestic premises are maintained under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006, where the duty holder is responsible for keeping fire safety measures in working order. Fire shutters that form part of building work also need approval from the council's building standards service (building warrants).
