What to check in Hoddesdon before ordering
In Hoddesdon, as elsewhere in England, planning questions go to your local planning authority (the district, borough, city or unitary council).
- Maintenance: High cycle counts mean more frequent servicing than ordinary roller doors.
- Safety: Light curtains and activation zones are commissioned on site so the door cannot close on people or vehicles in the opening.

Frequently asked questions
Can high-speed doors be used outside?
Yes, with wind-rated construction for the exposure of the opening.
Why use a high-speed door instead of a roller shutter?
Where a door opens many times an hour, a fast door is only open while traffic passes, which saves energy and keeps areas separate.
Do I need permission for high-speed roller doors in Hoddesdon?
It depends on the property. New doors on industrial buildings can need planning permission if they change the elevation, and doors in fire compartment walls must suit the fire strategy. Check with your local council before ordering; we can supply drawings.
