What to check in Caerphilly before ordering
In Caerphilly, as elsewhere in Wales, planning questions go to your local planning authority (the county or county borough council, or a national park authority).
- Maintenance: High cycle counts mean more frequent servicing than ordinary roller doors.
- Safety: Light curtains and activation zones are commissioned on site so the door cannot close on people or vehicles in the opening.

Frequently asked questions
What happens if a forklift hits it?
Many fabric doors have a self-repairing curtain that comes out of the guides on impact and re-feeds on the next cycle.
Why use a high-speed door instead of a roller shutter?
Where a door opens many times an hour, a fast door is only open while traffic passes, which saves energy and keeps areas separate.
Do I need permission for high-speed roller doors in Caerphilly?
Possibly. New doors on industrial buildings can need planning permission if they change the elevation, and doors in fire compartment walls must suit the fire strategy. We recommend checking with your local council first.
