Covering Caernarfon
We survey and install across Gwynedd, and Caernarfon is one of the towns covered.
We also cover Bangor (Gwynedd), Llangefni and Holyhead, so premises in more than one of these places can be quoted together.
For reference, Caernarfon lies about 6 miles south-west of Bangor (Gwynedd).
If you let out a property in Caernarfon, window and door shutters can protect it between tenancies or bookings, and solar or remote control avoids extra wiring.
Fitting on a high street in Caernarfon is planned around trading hours, so disruption to the shop is kept to a minimum.
Planning and safety in Caernarfon
Planning in Caernarfon follows the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and the Welsh permitted development rules. Shopfront shutters usually need planning permission; for houses it depends on the property, and listed buildings need listed building consent from the council, under the Historic Environment (Wales) Act 2023.
Electrical work for powered shutters is carried out to BS 7671, with notifiable work in homes (under Part P in Wales, whose list of notifiable work differs slightly from England's) self-certified by a competent person scheme electrician or notified to building control.
Fire shutters in workplaces and other non-domestic premises, including the common parts of blocks of flats, are maintained under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, where the responsible person is responsible for keeping fire safety measures in working order. Fire shutters that form part of building work also need approval from local authority building control.
